I am always amazing at the power that modern DAWs give the music/audio creative, some of them are quite functional, but when you look under the hood, they can be used in amazingly creative ways. I love the idea of taking something which already exists and then mangling and manipulating it into something completely different….I mean that forms the basis of the majority of all of my work!

Anyway, I digress….what started as a simple ‘How to’ video for my YouTube channel, turns into a creative journey.

Logic Pro X easily enables you to convert audio data in to midi data which you can then manipulate, correct and change to whatever you want it to be! This process is also a great way of learning to play parts of music if playing by ear is not your strong point. Additionally, you can use this technique to take audio files and use them as starting points for new melodic and rhythmic ideas. This is an amazing creative tip and a great way to explore new ideas!
