Worrying times - digital ownership on your images

After the success (read negative PR) of getting Instragram to backdown on the ownership of all things digital, it seems the British government have ignored everything and gone full steam ahead with this crazy act of changing UK copyright law permitting the commercial exploitation of images. The permission is granted when information built into the image (i.e. via meta data) which helps identify the own isn't present. The majority of digital images found on the internet pretty much have their metadata is missing ....when do you bother to fill it in?? In some cases, meta data is actually removed by an organisation (think Facebook!).

"People can now use stuff without your permission," said photo rights campaigner Paul Ellis.

To prevent this happening, the photographer will need to register the work in a registry. This obviously not only costs time, but money as well!Images first, how long before it is your audio and video??Worrying times!!PeaceNeil
