The costs of touring and making money as a working musician is something I have been thinking a lot about recently, particularly after seeing Steve Vai before Christmas, and wondering how much the tour managed to turn over, as well as how much the touring band might be making (along with the techs). I came across this blog post by Fish (of Marillion) and wow....it really does make interesting reading!. In particular, it really does counter that popular myth put forward by the downloading (pirate) fraternity, that it's okay to download because bands make their millions from touring!Particularly the last few paragraphs, which detail the bottom line figures make very depressing reading, and makes you realise that every ticket sale counts!PeaceNeil
