Using the surround panner matrix FX in Reaper to build Space Worlds with Fundamental & Reaktor

In this video I look at how you can use the surround panner plugin matrix in Reaper to blend between different effects on different channels. This is a really useful sound design technique and also can be used compositionally to create ever evolving soundscapes.

You can apply this to any DAW which has a surround panner. Of course you can get as creating as you like, in this example I switch between reverbs of different lengths, saturation and pitch shift amount, creating a space drone.

This technique formed the basis for my previous video 'Singularity - Adrift in space'.

This piece was written using Fundamental from Soniclab, the plugin collaboration of Hainbach and Sinan Bökesoy. I also used an old favourite of mine Metaphysical Function in Reaktor 6 along with Audiothing’s Wires (another Hainbach collaboration!), Eventide Blackhole and some Waves pitch-shifting.

The whole track was recorded in Reaper using a surround panner as plugin matrix as a way to create an effects control to morph between different layers of effects within the 3D soundscape.

Enjoy!
